Getting Started with HTML Design
Below are some important tips to bear in mind as you learn to develop HTML files or web pages.
- Web page designing should be developed with the intended audience in mind.
- Plan how you want your web page to look using a storyboard.
- When adding HTML code which is written using tags, it is best to save and preview your results periodically. Then, you have an idea of your work in progress and if there are errors.
- View your web page in multiple browsers to ensure it appears as intended for your audience at large.
- Test your hyperlinks to make sure each opens properly.
- Format text so that your audience is able to easily find information of interest.
- Lists are a simple way to organize text into chunks for your audience.
- Avoid using underlined text as it confuses readers with hyperlinks.
- Graphics can make a page more user-friendly. However, excessive graphics can defeat the intended purpose and therefore make the page difficult to use and understand.
- Ensure background colors, font colors, and graphics are complimentary making it easier for your audience to navigate and understand.
- Have at least three other people preview your final product and provide constructive feedback.
